Box Training

Is there anything more noble than the box, if we really think about it? No, I didn’t think you’d have a nobleller thing to present. I have become quite… intimate with the box of late.
And the box didn’t like it, let me say. I mean, just look at that 1-hour attempt. It’s my very first go at the practice and oh boy… I thought the purpose of the whole thing was to make the same box from different angles – not a whole bunch of different boxes in various stages of torment!
It has to be said though, that after I dreamt about the whole box situation (yes, really), I finally understood. The top plane also rotates! Who would’ve thunked! And while my hour 2 boxes are not perfect, either, they are much, much better. They are also in the wrong order, but who cares, we have unlocked lvl 5 in perspective!
I also found the smudgers in that second hour of practice, hence the very sexy bottlecap!
Anniversary Chandelier

I immediately put my newly found skills to use and proceeded to make the above chandelier for our anniversary. This very… very two-dimensional piece is a main attraction in the restaurant we went to to celebrate our 5 years of marriage. I say it turned out quite well for my very first chandelier. They aren’t easy, you know!
One thing I enjoyed especially was the absolutely insane amount of light sources. I mean, it has 20 candles on it! That’s 20 ways the light bounces off the bloody copper/bronze frame! And then there’s the perspective since we looked up at it. I think I managed to get that at least somewhat right, the box is at least vanishing to some point.
One thing I didn’t notice until later on was that the sun had a face painted on it. A little creepy, if you ask me. Maybe that’s why I blocked it out of my mind’s eye when making this piece.
Our Story Cover

The major project I worked on in January was the cover for Our Story (name due change). It went through many iterations, and eventually, with my husband’s critical eye at my back, I managed to come up with something rather nice. Let me tell you, this thing just has a certain glow about it! (Heh, inside jokes, you can’t see it yet, but really, it glows harder than the chandelier.)
One great thing I realized is that I can use parts and layers of the Cover in my promotional material. So as it happens, the closer to release we get, the more of the cover will be revealed! And come launch, all will be laid bare to your lovely, judgmental eyes.
And yes, while I used AI to get the initial thoughts in some form, I can assure you this one is all me. No sixth finger, no weird tables on the background fusing together. And most of all, no scary body parts melding into objects! (Seriously, I’ve seen so many AI ladies on Twitter with the craziest mutations… It’s bloody terrifying!)
Next Project: RimWorld Assets

The Husband Decrees: The Wife is to bring to reality a set of RimWorld Assets for her Lord and Liege! These assets must be of good quality, and preferably on the sexy side. Off to work!
I am always somewhat baffled when Mr. V comes to me with anything writing or art-related. I wonder if it is the famous impostor syndrome that haunts me. I can make all things great, but rarely do I think my skill is worth anyone else’s time. That is also why I welcome this opportunity with open arms!
Making game assets is the next natural step on my journey, I think. All of these skills are slowly beginning to funnel toward a common goal, and I’m here for it!
These assets will be the next thing I do, even before Rialar. After all, he asked me to do them last year when he got the tablet, and I agreed. I have finished Our Story (name due change), and the infamous January Madness is over now.
Next time, I will tell you all about how that went! Until then, check out my Instagram for the art I’ve already brought to life.
