Smooth Movings

As I said on my X sometime this past month, we had to move on quite a short notice. This time I was very helpful, and we ended up spending only a few days hauling our things. I shine in these kinds of things, packing and organizing stuff, making plans. It was also amazing to see how well we worked together — me bringing the energy in the beginning, and my husband keeping the grit up for when we were both tired and the sun had already set. And now we have settled in our new studio!
It was a rather hectic month. I’ve had a steady stream of bigger translation projects, and so most of my time has been spent on work and stressing over the move. And when not doing one of those things, I’ve been burying myself in Monster Hunter: World. What a great game!
That being said, I did progress DA! a few steps. I’ve done the flats for it, as well as the effects lineart. If you’d see my personal logs, you’d scream for the fact that I’ve only worked on this project for all of 4 days this month. Guys, is it that I’m having things to do, or is it that I’m lazy? Be honest here!
WIP: DA!

As I said, I have finished the flats and the effects lines. This thing is starting to look like a real comic! I’m quite amused with it, and after 70+ hours it still makes me chuckle. That’s a good sign, no? I mean, just look at Kiki fly in that picture! Absolutely amazing.
The next stages are shadows, lights and highlights, and polish. After that the visuals are pretty much done, and all I’ll have left would be to make the font and to re-write the text for the comic. And of course, to make the Cover. I’ve got some pretty spiffy ideas for the title, can’t wait to show you!

FP: SCaN

Believe it or not, I worked a few days on SCaN this month as well! Mostly just off things here and there, scribbling into my sketch book… but hey, something nice came out. Mainly the character ideas for the game!
I will keep doing these kinds of things next month too, I think. Fleshing out the main NPC’s and the protagonist of the story. It gives a nice break from all the translation work and even DA!, as amused as I am to work on the comic.

I know things will settle

After the random relocation and the bigger work projects, I’ve been rather spent. It seems to be a thing with me, and my God am I glad I have a husband who has enabled me to do things at my own pace. I couldn’t stand working 8h shifts (plus commute) in the past, it literally left me a depressed vegetable.
We’ve been entertaining each other with a joint creative effort on some evenings, a sort of semi RPG-style story. And it has been glorious! My husband is not the usual player of D’n’D kind of games, so he is constantly challenging me to create and to improvise. I mean, he sliced my snake-guy into two halves and shot the assassin sent to eliminate him without a second thought. Poor Mac’s basement is all viscera now… And he has now decided to antagonize a 2,000 year-old vampire who serves literal Death incarnate… Yup, 10/10, would recommend running a choose-your-own-adventure-RPG for your husband.
All that aside, and the fact that I only worked some days on my passion projects, it has been a good month. I even made some buns for my husband, as he asked them for his birthday. And while the progress isn’t what I, in my broken human mind, deem worthy, it is still amazing. Don’t get discouraged, friends, even if it takes a while. The most important thing is that you keep going, one little tootsie length at a time if that’s what it takes.
Don’t forget to follow my X to keep up to date. I’ve been less active this month, but I do update things whenever I have something new to say! And don’t forget to check out the ArtLog and DevLog for some interesting peaks at my current projects!
The days turn darker, the rain falls harder, but you and I, we plow through the storm to greet the winter.
Keep crawling, and have a great September,
Mrs. V
