Am I old yet?

July was once again a month of work more than anything. It seems I have a rather steady stream of freelancing jobs, which is a great blessing. With that, I didn’t have the energy to make something for my 35th birthday. Worry not, though, for my husband took me for a spin in Eldenring. It was quite fun to PVP against the soddy twinks and watch Mr. V pulpify them with his starting gear, avenging me in the process.
On the other hand, I did progress DA! by quite a bit this month, I am proud to say. And it’s good that I did too, since we are about to have a busier time in the near future. We will even move house on rather short notice!
I also finished another game, Garden Story. But more about that later.
WIP: DA!

So, I managed to finish the Lineart last week, finally. Currently, I am slapping in the Flats, which in my case, happen to be a little easier to deal with since I work with greyscale rather than color. Those are also nearly done. I am on page 5, moving on to page 6.
After the flats are done, the next steps include Shadows, Effects, and Polishing touches. And of course, I still need to do the font and re-write the text for the whole thing. I learned my lesson from this: Never go in without a script (or with a half-assed one, anyway)!
My whole focus artwise is on finishing DA!, which means that I naturally won’t be doing much else with my pen for the duration.
If you’d like to know more about how this project is going, check out the ArtLog, and come visit my X — that’s where I lurk most days, and where I post updates when something interesting happens!
Game Dev

This month I made another analysis, this time in a totally different genre. I played the cutesy RPG, Garden Story. While it has rather positive reviews, I’m glad we got it on a sale.
You can read my amateur analysis from the DevLog.
As such, SCaN, the game project, is still waiting in the back-burner patiently. Its time will come, that I almost dare promise!
What else is new?

As I mentioned in the beginning, we are about to move house in the coming weeks. It has been a rather sudden turn of events, but very exciting nonetheless! We, I mean I, will have some more wall space to look at. Perhaps I will make some more physical art!
I will also need to start looking into where to publish my comic. It’s not been very encouraging to see the nonsense with the payment processors and their censorship. The intimidation of independent platforms that depend on things like PayPal is just sickening to see — It is not their place to crack down on such things. That’s the job of the governments of states.
This month has also been rather slow. Be it the heat or summer-time blues, I’ll need to grab myself by the horns. I don’t know about you, but I tend to get depressed when I’m so… lethargic for a day or two. And now it’s been weeks! But then again, I am happy about spending a ton of time with my husband, going out to grill slabs of meat, and more.
Feel free to let me know your best refreshening tips for such lethargy, either in the comments or on X.
Have a great beginning of Autumn,
Mrs. V
