A surprising flood of work

This Month started with a bang, I went straight into the sketches of DA! And more. Somewhere around the halfway mark, however, a mythical creature decided to bless us, and I have been up to my neck with freelance work since.
This then, of course, means that I had to push SCaN’s GDD to the back for a while, after all, the priority must always be in taking care of the household. Considering the unstable situation in the world right now, I must take all I can get. And so should you, to be honest. Who knows when that extra five hours’ worth of pay will be the thing that separates us from going hungry, no?
WIP: DA!

That being said, not everything is just doom and gloom! The great news is that I have managed to finish the sketches for all 8 pages of DA! Ep1. I’m so excited about the whole thing, I fear I may look mad to the outsider. I am, after all, giggling here and there when I scratch the tablet with my pen, adding details and removing bits and bobs. On a side note, I also figured out the general gist of my cover for DA!.
You can read all about my progress and experiences regarding the process thus far from the ArtLog!
Art Projects

As far as art goes, this month has been one heck of a ride. I’ve learned so much about drawing basics, Loomis, and even cats! Who knew snouts are way harder to figure out than a nose for a manga-style character… And of course, I had to pick a more complex structure as my first character, a cat mixed with some humanoid features. Not to mention the spider – eight legs are simply too much for a newbie to manage!
I also started a sketch book to practice, which I’ve never done in my life. Check out some of the pages in the ArtLog, or even on my Twitter/X! (If you haven’t followed my X yet, you should. That’s where I can be found when not drowning in digital files!)
Game Development

While all this is going on, I’ve truly struggled to work on the game. That doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything, but together with the realisation that the world needs building, the GDD has been stagnant.
You can check out my minor updates on the matter from the DevLogs!
Other Projects

Remember Our Story? Me too, and boy, it’s been a while! I had some time at the beginning of the month, before all the craziness. I used it to hypothetically put the story into panels. Turns out, only the key moments came up to 139 panels, which is twelve pages in the journal, tightly packed.
As far as comics go, Our Story is a little bit more than I can chew at the moment. Especially when we consider that I can’t even draw a character consistently! This one has two main humans and some extras, and a bunch of complex settings. But then again, maybe I’m just overthinking it. Maybe I should just do it, as my darling husband suggests I do. Apparently, I gain crazy experience by doing and by learning that way. I can’t really say he is wrong, seeing the progress in my new sketchbook.
Either way, this project, the making of Our Story into a comic version, will take time. After all, DA!’s key panels only took two pages, and they turned into 8 pages for the first trial episode. With that math, Our Story would be what… at least 48 pages? I mean, I would learn to draw, that’s for sure.
About my online presence
I am still wondering about the benefits and cons of keeping this site. But for now, I figured it would be fun to put on a kind of gallery here. What do you say? I’ve not been a fan of splitting my attention between all these platforms, and am also wondering if I should just put Instagram on ice for now and just have the pictures here.
It’s not that I don’t see the potential in ‘diversifying’, but too many social medias is just, well, too many. One cesspit is enough, I think, and I have a steady presence in X. It’s also the most convenient platform I’ve been on for now, so why not centralise, right? Better to have one platform that I focus on than to have several and none that get their due attention.
That being said, I will keep posting on X, so look there for those little tidbits and updates on my projects! (And more, obviously!)
